Mt. Iimori

During the Boshin Civil War, when a group of 20 16-to-17-year-old teenagers from the 2nd brigade of the "Byakkotai" military unit retreated from the Battle of Tonoguchihara, they traveled through a side road of the Takizawa Pass and passed through the tunnel of the Tonoguchi Dam before arriving at Mt. Iimori. There, they saw the keep of Tsuruga-jo Castle enveloped in black smoke and thought: "As the castle falls, so shall we for our lord"." There area is now the site of their final resting place.
