Ando Jozo (Kitaura main store)
Ando Jozo, founded in 1853, is a brewery that makes additive-free, naturally brewed miso and soy sauce. Their skilled chief brewers use their own eyes, ears and tongue to manage the quality of their products. In their stores, an abundance of products with their traditional flavor, the pride of this long-established company, are available - enjoy shopping while listening to the explanations from specialist staff. Ando Jozo has four stores within Kakunodate; the Kitaura main store offers various sample products, as well as providing an eatery. Enjoy the unique taste of Akita here. The "soy sauce candies" made with soy sauce in the shop have been a great success since they were first sold. You should definitely try the soy sauce ice cream, and soy sauce macaroons too.
