Zao is a sightseeing spot that can be toured with a return day trip from Sendai. In winter, it is famous for skiing and Juhyo Tour. When the roads are opened around the end of April, the snow forms walls over 10m high close to the sides of the road leading to the mountain top. After the Juhyo tour, it's recommended to relax in the hot springs in Togatta Onsen before returning to Sendai.

  • One return tour per day that operates from mid-December to mid-March
    About 2 hours 10 minutes on the Sumikawa Snow Park "Juhyo-go" bus from JR Sendai Station, East Exit. Get off at Sumikawa Snow Park and register for the tour at the rest house.
